This fun, transforming workhouse, starts as a spilt tunic design in a soft black knit and can be worn so many different ways! I even put together a video to show you a few! As the POW progresses, you will see many of these in action, and some I did not show because I ran out of days of the week! Join me as I show you how to transform this tunic into a sexy date night look, a playful Saturday ensemble, a boardroom-ready office style, and a terrific Thursday cozy outfit. If you buy one garment this fall, let it be the seasonless, workhorse, transforming Beyond Tee!

POW 8: The Swingy Summer Staple Sundress

Until fairly recently, I did not have many sundresses. Then my husband pointed this out, so I tried to add more sundresses to my life. Now, I’m not sure why I did not have them! Sundresses are a prefect easy answer to nearly any outfit choice in the summer. Dinning al fresco? Sundress. Summer fair? Sundress. Errands on a hot day? Sundress. Work? Sundress with a cardi or jacket. Cook out? Sundress. Hot date? Sundress. Really anything? Sundress. A sundress is another wardrobe staple we should all have. And you probably were smarter than I and have several already!

For this Piece of the Week, I’m featuring a particular sundress—the cabi Spring 2016 Margherita Dress. This fun, boho-styled dress has a few features that make it not your typical sundress. First, pockets! I love me a dress with pockets! And it doesn’t get much more carefree and fun than a sundress with pockets. It has a longer length, not a true maxi, but longer than what I’d consider a midi length, which is perfect for, say... playing with your toddler. It has a handkerchief hem and is quite fun to twirl in. The straps are not spaghetti straps, but are a bit wider. Some of us may be able to get them to cover our bra straps. The waist is an easy elastic waist—forgiving when you have that extra burger at the cookout. Also, this dress comes in two colors. I’m featuring the classic navy and white one, which is cabi’s regular season dress, but also have a “limited addition” dress in white, yellow, and green geometric pattern. I’ve only seen the latter online, but it looks great too.

Like the other POWs, you can follow the styling tips with something you already have in your closet or something similar you purchase. Look for a longer length sundress, with a full skirt to best match the lovely Margherita Dress.

Do join us for the eight POW and discover seven ways, from the playground, to the boardroom, to the special occasion, to wonderful date night, to style this fun, swingy, summer staple Margherita Dress!

POW 6: The Summer-Styled Blouse

Everyone woman needs pretty, light blouse—something she can wear alone or with a jacket or cardigan. Something that can be dressed up, down, or worn to work. Something feminine without going overboard. Something flattering without revealing too much. Something sleeveless (that covers the bra straps) or something shorter-sleeved that works for spring and summer. Hopefully you have one or more of these types of blouses in your closet. This is another wardrobe essential—like the black trousers of the last POW. If you have one or more of these, then take this next POW as inspiration for styling that blouse.

If not, or if you need another, consider adding this lovely blouse to your wardrobe—the Plume Top. This is a pretty and casual cap-sleeved blouse that can easily be dressed up. The Plume has an easy tee-shirt style but with lovely, feminine features. The v-neck creates a longer, flattering look. The soft feathers are in magenta & pinks, purples, blues, greens, gold, and more. With all these colors, this blouse can go with so much, and it looks good on many different people. Plus, this is machine washable (on gentle) and machine dryable!

Some other current season blouses that can be styled similarly are the Blossom Top, Gelato Top, Luisa Tank, and the Positano Top. cabi often carries blouses like this each season. A few that are similar (or could be styled sim similarly) from the Fall 2015 collections are the Reign Blouse, Evermore Blouse (very similar in shape and style), the Love Blouse (checkout the Love POW for even more styling options for this style of blouse!), the Flaunt Wrap, the Stained Glass Blouse, and the Flutter-Sleeve Blouse. I welcome other suggestions, from cabi or elsewhere! I’ll add any I get to this post with credit.

Do join us for the sixth POW and discover seven ways, from the playground, to the special occasion, to the boardroom, to style the wardrobe essential pretty short-sleeved or sleeves blouse!

POW 5: Getting Down to Business

Black Pants. Black pants are a wardrobe essential for any woman. They are more essential if you have a career that requires business casual and dressier. But even those whose career is raising their child or something on the casual side should have a pair of flattering black pants. This next POW will focus on a pair of chic, flattering black pants that may be a perfect addition to your wardrobe.

Outfit: Go-To Trouser, Cruise Jacket, and older Target suede pumps.

Outfit: Go-To Trouser, Cruise Jacket, and older Target suede pumps.

Let me introduce you to our fifth POW: the cabi Spring 2016 Go-To Trouser! These are a modern, chic take on the classic! The big difference is a slightly shorter length, making them ankle skimming (or so, depending on your height). They are a comfortable, flexible, and lifestyle-friendly mix of cotton, modal, and spandex for a crisp professional look you can move in. They are relaxed in the hip (great for those of us with bigger hips) and have a straight leg. The name is perfect—they will be my Go-To pants this spring and long into the rest of the year (and I suspect beyond). Do join us for the fifth POW and discover seven ways, from the boardroom, to the playground, to the fancy dinner, to style this chic version of a wardrobe essential.

In at least some of the photo shoots for this POW, I am wearing the sample, which is a size too big, including the pictures here. These pants should fit a bit tighter and smoother in the correct size. I hope to get my pair in time to finish the POW in them!
